ULOAH
(United Lesbians Of
African Heritage)

We are best known as the sistahs who put on SISTAHfest, the ultimate black lesbian retreat... but we are that, and much more.... Read on!

Once upon a time, there was a dream,
a dream of women,
a dream of women coming together
and turning the world around...
and it still lives.
It lives for those who would be sisters".
-Pat Parker

Since 1989, United Lesbians of African Heritage (ULOAH) has been the leading voice of the Black lesbian community in southern California. ULOAH is a community-based, non-profit organization dedicated to the visibility, unity and empowerment of lesbians of African descent.

We build self-esteem, challenge heterosexism, and work for lasting social change through visibility, education, and advocacy.

What is SISTAHfest? For the past eleven years, ULOAH has been host to one of the more exciting events for black lesbians, a three day Fall retreat in the hills of Malibu, California.

ULOAH Outdoors

Do you like to hike, camp or fish? ULOAH Outdoors was created for you.

Every year after SISTAHfest, women who never camped before, enjoyed being outdoors in a "camp" style atmosphere, and women who camp on a regular basis always wished that ULOAH would do more.

ULOAH saw a need in our community to provide a venue where our sistahs can get their camp on. This is how ULOAH Outdoors was born.

Our first meeting will be a hike/meeting on Saturday, June 1st at 9:00am sharp.

We will be meeting on the corner of Franklin and Canyon (1 block east of Bronson) in the Mayfair parking lot. From there we will go to our starting point, and we will be heading to the "HOLLYWOOD" sign. Leashed dogs are welcome to join us.

For more information, call the ULOAHline 323-960-5051. or send us an email:
