  • Day 1- Thurs. August 14:  Departure from JFK Airport in New York at 1:00 PM
  • Day 2- Fri. August 15:  Arrive in Accra, Ghana 4:00 AM

Airport: Transfer to La Palm Royal Beach Hotel or The Golden Tulip Hotel. Full Service 4 star: hotel, pool, health spa, Internet access, etc.

Welcome and Orientation to Ghana. Relax, unwind, change money, visit Artist Alliance Gallery and the Casket Makers.

First Part of the ACCRA CITY TOUR

See the administrative and economic capital of Ghana. Visit W.E.B. Dubois Center for Pan African Culture and the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. See Black Star Square. Tour ends at the lively Arts & Crafts Center. Visit a popular African night club to "shake it on down" with our African sisters and brothers, and get your groove on African style.

  • Day 3- Sat. August 16:  ABURI GARDENS TOUR

Drive through the University of Ghana, Legon to the hill town of Aburi to visit the Botanical Tropical Gardens. Tour ends at the Wood Carver's Market, you can shop for wood carvings, purchased from country art carvers.  Attend a traditional African naming ceremony, where you will be renamed and given a typical Ghanaian day name and a royal ancestral name in Akwamu Traditional Area. Overnight in Akosombo.

  • Day 4- Sun. August 17:  CRUISE/AKOSOMBO DAM

Visit Akosombo Dam on the beautiful Volta Lake, the largest artificial lake in the world. Cruise on the Dodi Princess, wine and dine whilst dancing to sweet sounds of High-Life music played by a live band on board. Dinner and overnight in Akosombo. Evening visit by clothing & dressmakers; place your order to be delivered before our final departure.

  • Day 5- Mon. August 18:  KUMASI CITY TOUR

Tour the Ashanti Kingdom. Travel to Kumasi Hotel check-in, visit Mahyia Palace, the Center for Ashanti National Culture. Dinner and overnight in Kumasi.

  • Day 6- Tues. August 19:  CRAFT VILLAGES TOURS

Visit three famous Ashanti Craft Villages: AHWAII, the Wood Carver's Village; NTONSO, the Home of Adinkra and BONWIRE the Kente Weaving Village. Dinner and overnight in Kumasi.

  • Day 7- Weds. August 20:  ELMINA CASTLE/CAPECOAST CASTLE

Visit famous forts and castles in the central region of Ghana. See Cape Coast, African Historical Museums and Elmina Castle. Beach time and drinks by the pool. Overnight in Elmina.

  • Day 8- Thurs. August 21:  KAKUM NATIONAL PARK

Visit Kakum National Park; a tropical rain forest. This is one of the Seven Wonders Of The World-walk on a hanging canopy 100 feet above the forest floor. Relax at a wonderful beach front hotel and enjoy a traditional drumming and cultural display by local youth.

  • Day 9- Fri. August 22:  Return to Accra to complete the City Tour.

Affinity visits-pre-arranged per individual choice; University, Hospitals, Government Complexes, HIV/AIDS Agencies, you name it or just shop or relax on the beach. Party and enjoy Accra night life.

  • Day 10- Sat. August 23:  Day of Leisure in Accra.

Last minute shopping/packing. Farewell Dinner. Late night Departure from Accra, to BWI (Baltimore/Washington Int'l Airport)
