  • Dear FemmeNoir--I wanted to give you an update about an important new development. The release of my newest book, BEST BLACK WOMEN'S EROTICA 2! The book was released this Valentine's Day and I truly believe this is one of the most powerful, politically aware, inclusive and sex-sex-sexy erotica collections ever published. The book showcases a wonderful group of new and established authors writing about erotica from the viewpoint of black women from a variety of backgrounds, abilities, sexual orientations, geographies and affectional priorities. Young women, old women, single women, married women, lesbian, bisexual and heterosexual women, disabled women, small women, large women, black women black women black women discovering, rediscovering and affirming their sexual selves.

  • Audre Lorde Scholarship Awards -- The Audre Lorde Scholarship Awards are designed to recognize out* lesbians of African descent who are making significant contributions to their communities. ZAMI wants to support and encourage their continuing education by providing up to 10 scholarships in 2003 to those women who are enrolled in accredited technical, undergraduate and graduate programs.

  • Black Pride:  At The Beach Los Angeles -- “Empowerment” is the theme for the Third Annual Dialogue Conference Series. We will discuss and strategize on ideas to strengthen ourselves and the community in an open and safe space. It’s paradise!

  • 29th Annual National Women's Music Festival, June 5-8, 2003.  Kent State University, Kent, Ohio.  The National Women's Music Festival (NWMF) will celebrate 29 years of women's music and culture June 5-8, 2003, on the campus of Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. This cultural phenomenon was begun in 1974 as a weeklong festival on the campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, and is the oldest and longest-running women's music festival in the nation. Located in Indiana for over 20 years, NWMF will make Ohio its new home for the first time this year, offering women from a different region of the Midwest the opportunity to experience this unique and empowering event.

  • Woman of color: Photography Book:  SHEdriven, a lesbian photographer in Los Angeles looking for 20-30 African American woman/couples to interview and photograph 20-30, to share their experiences, views, and expressions. The mission of the book is to open minds and squash stereotypes of negative views of "Lesbianism" in the black community. SHEdriven will photograph Black and White images of each woman, portraying each individual style and vibe as a couple or single woman.**

  • PRESS RELEASE -- 3/05/03 -- Kennesaw State GLSA Advisory Board to host LBGT Student Organization Summit.  The Kennesaw State University Gay-Lesbian-Straight Alliance and Advisory Board is hosting "The Courage to Lead: An LBGT Student Organization Summit" on Saturday, April 26, from 1:00-6:00pm. Student, faculty, and parent participants in high school and college LBGT organizations may attend free of charge. Registration for the event will begin at 12:00pm in the Carmichael Student Center at KSU (pre-registration is strongly encouraged). The event will be followed by a reception for participants sponsored by The Atlanta Pride Committee, Inc.**
