Zuna Institute Celebrates Black Elder Community
The Black Lesbian Elder Speak Project

Voices missed from the first Zuna Conferences were those who are over 55 years of age.  This year's conference marked the first Black Lesbian Elder Speak Project at the ZUNA Institute National Conference held April 11-13th, 2003 in Los Angeles, California.

Zuna Institute in partnership with Progressive Research & Training for Action and The National Center for Lesbian Health Research will conduct the “Elder Speak Project.

Congratulations is what was repeated over and over again on February 22 & 23, 2003 when AALLU conducted this conference. Well over a 100 women attended this conference who came from all over the Eastern region including NJ, NY, CT, PA, DE, VA, Wash. DC and as far as GA.

Nia Collective:  Freeing Ourselves to Celebrate and Rejuvenate with Excitemnte, Art, Fun, Relaxation and Games

The theme, "Freeing Ourselves" will welcome sistahs who are attending for the first time and an embracing of sistahs who continue to come year after year.  The workshops will focus on spirituality, health & wellness, economic vitality, political awareness, social networking and sexuality.  We are actively planning these stimulating workshops and a forum discussion for you.
