FSC: Program Officer
FSC Has Positions Available

FSC will be hiring a Program Officer (full-time), an Development Officer (full-time), and a Financial Manager (part-time). Please view the job descriptions below for more information on each position.

Program Officer

Job Title: Program Officer

Employment Status: Full-time

Supervisor:  Executive Director

Job Summary:  The Program Office will function as part of a team, working in all areas of the organization. Responsibilities include implementation of grant-making and other program and member-service related activities, and coordinating the annual meeting. Also handles some administration duties related to the day-to-day office operations

Job Requirements:

• Progressive social change orientation necessary

• Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)

• College degree required, Masters Degree a plus

• Thorough knowledge of the non-profit sector and philanthropic community

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office and database software

• Ability to work within seasonal deadlines

• Must be self-disciplined & self-starter

• Ability to coordinate meetings and special events

• Knowledge of donor development and public relations

• Ability to handle multiple assignments/tasks

• Results oriented

• Professional appearance

• Good motivational and organization skills

• Substantial commitment of time, some night meetings, and travel (including weekends)

• Successful performance in a similar position demonstrating the ability to handle people, details and tasks

• Demonstrated ability to work with different types of people and organizations.

Mental Requirements

• It is crucial that the candidate be able to organize a variety of tasks and instructions

• It is imperative that the candidate be able to track multiple projects from start to finish

Job responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:

Programs

• Coordinating FSC's semi-annual general grant cycles, and staff grant funds

• Coordinating FSC's Donor Advised Fund grant making

• Coordinating FSC's Annual Membership Conference

• Coordinate technical assistance workshops and offerings for grantees

• Manage the Sponsored Projects Program

• Manage the Grantee Database Program

Board Relations

• Assist with the preparation of Board meetings

• Staff appropriate committees of the Board

Public Relations

• Publishing FSC's Annual Report, newsletters, and other needed materials

• Increasing general public awareness of FSC through appropriate activities

• Ability to update the FSC web-site

Work in cooperation with the Executive Director to:

• Staff the Annual Meeting Planning committee of the Board of Directors

• Staff the Grant-making committee of the Board of Directors

• Provide leadership toward implementing the mission and goals of FSC

• Represent FSC via personal contacts, networking opportunities, media, etc.

• Prepare and monitor FSC's Annual Budget

• Develop and monitor FSC's Annual Calendar/Work-plan

• Assist the Board of Directors to fulfill their planning, governance, and evaluation functions

• Be an advocate for FSC's mission and philosophy with donors, grantees and the public

• Represent FSC in philanthropic networks regionally and nationally, and promote the concept of community based philanthropy

Organizational Relationship

• Works well with staff

Development Officer

Job Title: Development Officer

Job Summary: The FSC Development Officer will function as part of a team, working in all areas of the organization. Responsibilities include planning for and coordinating fundraising efforts and preparing grant and foundation requests. Also handles some administration duties related to the day-to-day office operations.

• Development and cultivation of funding sources, including individual donors, foundations, and corporations

• Development of written promotional and fundraising materials, including foundation grant proposals

• Manage donor database program

• Implement donor, grantee and special events

• Coordinate mailings: direct mailings, fall ask, spring ask, special appeals, fundraising events

• Manage monthly pledge program

• Manage donor records and generate reports

Board Relations

• Assist with the preparation of Board meetings

• Staff appropriate committees of the Board

Financial

• Facilitate deposits into FSC accounts

• Prepares acknowledgment and tax letters

• Development and implementation of funding plan and strategies

Work in cooperation with the Executive Director to:

Financial Manager

Job Title: Financial Manager

Employment Status: Part-time, Minimum of 15 hours a week

Requirements: Degree in accounting, certification, or equivalent experience required. Reports to the Director of Administration and works in partnership with of the Treasurer of the Board of Directors.

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Manages Financial Files: Keeps financial files in working order for purposes of referral, planning, and budgeting and to ensure accurate information for reports and audits. Maintains monthly report file FSC operating budget such as balance sheets, income statements, bank reconciliations, detail transaction listings and trial balances.

Maintains Accounting System: Enters financial transactions into accounting system such as journal entries, deposits, checks and other information as needed. Establish account structures. Enter budget information for planning and implementation purposes.

Processes Checks: Process all checks with the exception of payroll checks that are issued by payroll company. Have in-depth knowledge of FSC, donor advised and sponsored project account status.

Processes Transfers of Funds: Processes transfers of funds for payroll, administrative fees, grants, and operating expenses for FSC, donor advised accounts and sponsored projects as needed. Provides back-up documentation of transfers. Book transfers onto ledger.

Reconciles Bank Statements: Reconciles bank statements to ensure that the bank and ledger are accurate and complete and that they balance. Develops reconciliation reports and mails them with balance sheets and bank statement copies to board treasurer.

Prepares Quarterly Reports: Issue statements of financial activity to sponsored projects and donor advised accounts. Prepare financial statement of all FSC combined accounts for Board of Directors. Prepares other financial analyses as needed.

Annual Financial Responsibilities: Assists board treasurer, co-directors and other board members with annual budget preparation. Load new FY budget onto accounting system. Compiles 1099 information for payroll company. Assists auditors with annual audit.

Provides Accounting and Technical Support to Sponsored Projects: Confers with and advises sponsored projects on financial planning, reporting and implementation.
